There are no spaces at any other school now, Little Heath, Ladbrook, Wroxham and even Cranborne are full I think. Oakmere might have space - but there is no choice now!
I understand that Oakmere has 27 free places out of 60 in its reception class, and Cranborne School has 6 free places out of 60. (That is for 07/08) I dont know when figures are published for this coming September's intake.

In the January allocations there were 15 places free at Oakmere in September 08 and 1 at Cranborne. I think these did include Borehamwood children who, for the 2nd year running, had no school places available in their town. I believe some of these Borehamwood children have now been offered a place in their own town now.
Figures show that over the next few years there are far more reception aged children than County predict, and thats without any further development in the town.
If there are any reception places free in Potters Bar over the next couple of years (and thats a big if) they will only be at Oakmere. Hardly offering parental preference, when there is a choice of 1 school! And Oakmere is to the far east of the town and therefore not very easily accessible for most.

I think it may be very useful to provide a place where local clubs, campaigns and other societies can share news and promote events and otherwise provide an online venue where members and those interested can easily interact.
We’ve done this before for the “Save Our Sunnybank” Campaign group, where their subforum recieved over 19890 views.
If you run, or know a local club/campagin/soceity that would be interested in this sort of idea please let me know.

When HCC lose the case - government's answer will be - why were you continuing closing schools then when you were in full knowledge many houses would be built in those areas?
At which point, I hope, Robert Gordon, John Harris, David Lloyd et al at HCC will, as one, implode!

The adjudicator in his decision ( 19th Feb 2007) says he was given no indication from HCC that there would be significant building in Potters Bar. Hence the situation - Sunny Bank 'closed' due to so called surplus places and within a day it's land included in a green belt search for new housing. Check out Hertsmere's planning applications and Wrotham Park has reared its head again.

It's a shame the car parks don't allow a free hour as in Darkes Lane. I find the on street parking in Darkes Lane causes so much traffic congestion as people park wrong side or drive between the two roundabouts scanning for a space.
I also noticed a shopkeeper the other day come out and re-sticker her car, personally I wouldn't be bothered to do that every hour but clearly some people do. I guess when the buses park there she'll have to pay :)
