I see the Darkes Lane shopkeepers are moaning about it being quiet at the moment. Are they whineing? Or are they justified in their concerns?

Well the council certainly don't help with the parking

And to be honest some of the shopkeepers don't help themselves neither. I won't name names, nor hint at the type of business as Zero won't like it (and rightly so as they run the site).

Used one shop for several years, then we hit a problem with one item. The rudeness from the Owner was simply unbelievable, so much so that we've never set foot inside their shop again, and never will

Used to be involved the fundraising arm of my childrens school. Have you ever tried walking from Mutton Lane down to Dreams, and back again on the other side of the road asking all the shops to display a simple A4 poster advertising an event like a Christmas or Summer School Fayre? (So it was a community event) For those that did say yes and put the poster up (and it was way below 50%) it was interesting to see how many of the A4 posters remained after 1-2 days. Sorry Guys but if you want the local community to support you then you also have to support them.
Oops got that last bit wrong in not replying!! Smiler I agree with you sometimes fundraising and asking shopkeepers to put up posters for various school charity event was like getting blood out of a stone and the bigger stores usually were more helpful - community spirit would be nice, they can support us and we will support them - not hard!!
I've removed the last reply that went slighly wrong for you MILLPHEONIX, and thanks for not mentioning specific names here Smiler - whilst it would be great to have the freedom to, the only reason is that I think accusations of ruining a local shops business etc are best avoided Happy.
i think the shop keepers might be getting so many posters as it's that time of the year when the local church's and schools all have something going on which is all for good causes so if they put all then the windows will be all covered at the same time if the person who goes to give the poster in that particular shop, do they go for shopping in that store and make themselves familiarized with shop owner? that would help no one can clap with one hand but hey it's no time to sleep now wake up and help each other.
