I paid £40 for a Moviebank card back when it opened - and havn't used it much. I think I still have at least £20 left on it.

Just recently, I popped out to get out a DVD and I was shocked to find it had closed down (on Friday 13th April).

I had no idea about this, or the warning that it was about to close.

Has anyone tried to get their money back - or even know if there is any way of contacting the previous ownership for a refund?

Isn't it a franchise? Not sure how much success you would get with the franchise owner. The website is on http://www.mb24.co.uk/pb still and the contact details for the person who runs it are at the bottom (though given the head office appears to be the store address the chances are slim). There are other contact details on http://www.moviebank24h.co.uk but not sure if that's the same company it might be worth a try.

I had a chat with the guy who ran Moviebank when it opened (he tried the hard sell on me but I have Sky Movies and kids so not much call for DVDs!!) I got the impression he owned the whole lot and never gave me the impression it was a franchise. Anyway. There's one in Barnet, so you could try tracking him down there (or use your card in the Barnet branch)
