Quote:POLICE are appealing for help from the public following a cashbox robbery in Potters Bar on January 2.
The incident occurred at around 11.40am outside McDonalds in Darkes Lane. A security van driver was approached by a white male on foot, who was carrying what appeared to be a small handgun.
The suspect told the driver to put down the cashbox he was holding, picked it up and got into a blue Peugeot car, which was being driven by another white male. The car then made off under the railway bridge towards Mutton Lane.
The stolen cashbox, which did not contain any cash, was later found in Mutton Lane, just outside the Bridge Pub. Its security device had triggered and red smoke was visible. The blue Peugeot was also later found abandoned in Melrose Avenue, Potters Bar on January 3.
