Yet again there are floods under the train bridge on Darkes Lane - I saw a car being pushed out by firemen. The road has been closed aswell.

I think they just leave the water to drain off so it might be closed tomrrow.
I see Darkes Lane under the bridge flooded again with the rainfall we had today.

How many times does this have to happen before the council do something about it?

And again today!
it's madness - everywhere you go in, they are digging up the roads for one reason or another. Why can't they sort this mess out while they're at it ?
I'm sorry to say fellow Potters Barians but I'm sure I'm right in saying that there is actually a Brook/Stream running under Darkes Lane, you can see it disappear under Mutton Lane near the Darkes Lane junction and that is why it keeps happening. Brilliant planning all those years ago I'm afraid. There's apparently nothing they can do about it when it rains as the Stream rises and floods. If you look at old maps of PB you'll see it before we built on top of it.

Planners were as good then as they are now, i.e. Rubbish!
well that's that then !
Brook/Stream? I doubt it! A spring I could believe.

Seems to happen all the time now.
Its true - see this map - in the top right quadrant you can see a Black line named the "Potters Bar Brook", as well as Darkes Lane, Billy Lows Lane and Mutton Lane.
There website hasn't caught up yet... but..... check out Page 10 of this weeks Barnet and Potters Bar Times!

There is an underground pumping system which could not cope with the heavy rainfall(!). The council say new pumps ciosting £35K will be installed in the next month.

Talking of rainfall.....

1/ When will the hose pipe ban be lifted so I can wash my car!!

2/ When will Three Valleys Water turn the water pressure back up to where it was last spring??
Well this is quite funny. Someone took a photo of the "Potters Bar Lido" sign that was up once when the road flooded. It's on Flickr here.
