Full Version: Public Transport too Expensive?

Well this isn't strictly connected to any of the above matters, but I was shocked at how expensive train tickets are, I don't really see much of an incentive to travel by train when it is much cheaper by car in some cases.

I recently tried to get a return ticket for 4 people to Cambridge from PB. Unless I did something drastically wrong, the price was a total of around £100! In terms of petrol, I could go 400 or so miles on that, instead of 53 miles to Cambridge.

Does anyone else think this is extortionate.

< Zero: Split from Cheaper Train Season Tickets topic as I seemed to be a different topic of discussion, and added poll. >
I went to Stevenage yesterdeay with my 13 daughter on the train and it cost me well over £12.00 for a return, what a rip off!! The government want us to use public transport - but they aren't making it easy for us, not everyone can afford to pay these prices all the time.
I have split the two posts above from the topic Cheaper Train Season Tickets to allow this matter to be discussed separately. A poll was also added so registered users can vote on whether they think public transport is too expensive or not.
