We upgraded on the 10th July 2006 20:00 from Invision Power Board v1.2 to MyBB v1.1.5.
There were a number of factors which caused the need for the forum to be upgraded. The old software (Invision Power Board (IPB)) was old, and no longer supported by the manufacturer. This meant that any security holes, which could allow a hacker to edit, deface, or delete the board, or access user data, was left unplugged. Some of these exploits included allowing a hacker to easily 'inject' data into the database, and essentially 'break' the forum. (For more information see here: http://secunia.com/product/330/). To add to the urgency, our webhosts requested that:-
In an ideal world, we could have upgraded the IPB board, but it is now a commercial package. This left us with the option of finding a replacement.
After searching, MyBB came out as the obvious choice. MyBB is very similar to IPB, so you should find the adjustment to it easy.
All threads, users, posts etc. have been carried over. Unfortunately, avaters (pictures under usernames) and polls, have not, so users will have to update this themselves.
At the moment, lots of hyperlinks will still direct to the old forums, so these will be fixed over the next few weeks. Classified Adverts will also need to be recoded slightly.
The RSS feed has changed, you can now configure your own here, or use the new default:-
Latest topics on the main page have not been updated yet, and the latest 3 topics has not been added to the homepage yet - this will be done over the next few days.

I would also suggest changing all your passwords to strong passwords, the best are random combinations of numbers and letters at least 8 characters long.
