If the council decided to carry out option 2 and extend on land which they need to buy, where would they buy the land from? Are they meaning they wish to buy land from either the tennis or football club? Perhaps they are wishing to buy part of Parkfield. What do you think?
As a tax payer I can't see the advantage of closing a school and then extending another!

Yes Booklady I agree wholeheartedly. Potters Bar needs our open spaces, Tennis Courts, Bowls Clubs and Football Grounds. The kids need somewhere to run off their excess energy and dogwalkers appreciate the peace and tranquility that Parkfield Open Space affords them. Why waste money when we have perfectly good schools already, albeit numbers are down at the moment, they can just as easily go back up again. A lot of older people are saying the same thing, as the Council allows more building work, more schools will be need again anyway. I heard there are supposed to be more properties being built in the High Street, although I'm not sure where! There is also the new development going up as we discuss this in the Southgate Road on the old Catholic church which has been demolished. What an eyesore the new one is in Mutton Lane! Carbuncle doesn't come into it!

Closing school, buying land, building new houses for young families, young children will need schools - hey - we don't have enough school places - better build a new school. Has the world gone mad

I know it sounds cynical but it does all appear to be about money, specifically the large amounts of money that the local authority could raise by selling the Sunny Bank site to property developers. We have local councillors expressing the same views in correspondance we have received.
I don't believe that you are being cynical on this point at all- intuative at worst- If it looks like it and smells like it - it usually IS it ! Therefore I don't feel we can afford to wait for the 'sneaky ones' to show their hand. None of HCC's figures add up regarding Sunny Bank - I truly believe we are a round peg which they are trying to squeeze into their square hole to fit another agenda. I don't agree with being disrespectful to anyone, however HCC et al have treated all those linked with Sunny Bank with total disrespect for their intelligence or passion and loyalty. For this I feel they have to answer directly and not guild any lillies where our children are concerned.

Yes, I agree with what you say. Although the options have now been extended to nine options, Sunny Bank are still the first three options. Honesty and morals do not come into the equation as far as HCC are concerned. We will carry on the fight to keep Sunny Bank open and if it comes to the point that the Council were scheming for some other reason, there is going to be public uproar. The fight will carry on, Sunny Bank will close over mine and my husband's dead bodies! We will write more letters, e mails and attend every public meeting going and anything else that is needed to stop this. So take heed HCC.
Buying a chunk or Parkfield to Extend Ladbroke?
Surely the park belongs to all of us council tax payers and is not the councils to sell.
I totally agree this farce is all down to how much money can be obtained by re-developing the Sunny Bank site.
I'm proud to be a cynic.
Someone somewhere stands to make a tidy profit at the expense of our childrens education.
